Manage Geographic Locations

Manage the details required to add a geographic location, such as the location types and additional location fields. You can also import and export the geographic locations.

Add Location Type

You can associate location types with geographic locations to specify the type of location, such as Office, ATM, Data Centre, and more. The location types help security analysts to filter incidents based on the impacted location type. This helps to identify the pattern and root cause of incidents.

To add a location type, do the following:

  1. Go to Admin Panel > Settings > Location.

  2. On the top-right, select More > Manage Geographic Locations.

  3. Select Location Types and click Add Location Type.

  4. Enter a name for the location type and click Save.

The location type is added and you can associate it with geographic locations.

Supported Activities for Location Types

You can perform the following activities to manage location types:

  • Edit a location type to update the name.

  • Delete a location type.

    Note

    You must remove a location type from all associated geographic locations to delete it.

Add Location Field

You can add location fields to provide additional details about a geographic location, such as emergency contacts, email ID, name of the contact person, and more.

To add a location field, do the following:

  1. Go to Admin Panel > Settings > Location.

  2. On the top-right, select More > Manage Geographic Locations.

  3. Select Location Fields and click Add Field.

  4. Enter the following details:

    • Field Name: Enter a name for the location field.

    • Field Type: Select one of the following field types:

      • Text Field: Allows all text entries, such as alphabets, numbers, special characters, and more.

      • Email: Allows one email ID entry. For example, user@sampledomain.com.

      • Number: Allows number entries only. For example, 123.

      • Mobile Number: Allows one phone number entry in International Subscriber Dialing (ISD) format. For example, +1-4255511111.

      • IP: Allows one IP address entry. For example, 1.1.1.1.

    • Readable Key: Enter a unique readable key for the field.

  5. Click Add.

The location field is added and you can use it in geographic locations to provide additional details. The added field is also added to the import template. For more information, see Import Geographic Locations.

Supported Activities for Location Fields

You can perform the following activities to manage location fields:

  • Edit a location field to update the details.

  • Delete a location field.

  • Drag and reorder the fields.

Export Geographic Locations

You can export the geographic locations added in CFTR in XLSX format and reuse them in other applications.

To export geographic locations, do the following:

  1. Go to Admin Panel > Settings > Locations.

  2. Click More > Export Locations > XLSX.

The locations are exported in the background. After a successful export, CFTR sends you the export file as an email attachment. You can also click Download here on the success message to download the export file.

Import Geographic Locations

You can import your geographic locations and reuse them in CFTR. You can enter the location details in a specific import template and then import. You can preview and download the import template under

Before you Start

Ensure that you have:

  • Create/Update permissions for Settings.

  • A list of locations with the required details.

Steps

Download Import Template

To preview and download the import template, do the following:

  1. Go to Admin Panel > Settings > Locations.

  2. Click More > Import Locations > Preview Template.

  3. Click Download.

Locations.xlsx file is downloaded.

Note

Download the import template for every import operation since the template is updated when a new location field is added.

Update Import Template

Open the Locations.xlsx file and update it with the location details.

Note

The data columns marked with an asterisk are mandatory fields.

Import Locations XLSX

To import the locations added in the Locations.xlsx file, do the following:

  1. Go to Admin Panel > Settings > Locations.

  2. Click More > Import Locations > Import XLSX.

  3. Select the file and click Open.

The locations are imported in the background. You can track the progress under Background Process.
