Cyware Orchestrate

Clone Instances

Analysts can clone app instances and reuse the app configuration parameters across versions. This eliminates the need for analysts to recreate instances, thereby saving time and effort.

If the app configurations vary across different versions, then you cannot clone instances. The following can be some of the app configurations that may vary across different versions:

  • Number of app configuration parameters

  • Field type of app configuration parameters

  • Mandatory field check of app configuration parameters

  • Cyware Agent compatibility of an app instance

For example, if the configuration parameters of the CFTR v2.0.0 app are base URL and access ID and the configuration parameters of CFTR v3.0.0 app are base URL, access ID, and secret key, then you cannot clone instances across CFTR v2.0.0 and CFTR v3.0.0 versions.

Analysts can clone instances in one of the following ways:

Before you Start

Ensure that your user group has permission to Create/Update App Instances.

Clone an Instance to Other Versions

Analysts can clone an instance to multiple versions of an app.

The following gif illustrates the steps of cloning the Prod Instance from CTIX v1.6.3 to CTIX v1.4.0, v1.5.0, and v1.6.1 versions.

Steps

  1. From the main menu, click Apps

  2. Select an app, and click Instances.

  3. Hover over an instance and click Clone.

  4. Select the app versions to clone the instance and click Confirm.

If an app instance of the same name already exists in the selected app versions, then you must confirm to override and clone the instance.

    Note

Cloning an instance of the same name to other versions overrides the agent-related configuration of the cloned instances. On cloning, the instances that are not agent compatible are modified to agent-compatible instances and vice versa. The associated agent ID of the original instance is also linked with the cloned instances.

Clone Instances from Another Version

Analysts can clone multiple instances from a selected version of an app.

The following gif illustrates the steps of cloning the Prod Instance, DevOps Instance, and QA Instance from CTIX v1.5.0 to CTIX v1.6.3.

Steps

  1. From the main menu, click Apps

  2. Go to an app, and click Instances.

  3. Click Clone instances from another version.

  4. Select the App Version and choose one or more App Instances.

If the app instances of the same name already exist in the current app version, then you must confirm to override and clone instances.

    Note

Cloning an instance of the same name from another version overrides the agent-related configuration of the cloned instances. On cloning, the instances that are not agent compatible are modified to agent-compatible instances and vice versa. The associated agent ID of the original instance is also linked with the cloned instances.
