Manage RSS Advisory Sources

Notice

This feature is available in Collaborate v3.7.2.0 onwards.

RSS advisories provide open-source cybersecurity updates from trusted external publishers, including government agencies, security researchers, industry blogs, and more. These feeds deliver timely information on threats, vulnerabilities, incidents, and other security-related developments. Advisory sources are grouped into categories based on the type of information they publish, helping you organize and filter feed content.

RSS feeds are available both in the Analyst and Member Portals. As an analyst, you can add new RSS sources, monitor the health of all integrated sources, and additionally enable required RSS sources to make them available to members in the Member Portal. You can use RSS feeds in the Analyst Portal to create alerts and share them with members.

Add RSS Advisory Sources

You can add new sources in the Analyst Portal, define their details, and organize them into appropriate categories for easy access in Collaborate.

Before you Start

  • Ensure that you have the View, Create and Update permissions for RSS Feeds in User Management.

  • Ensure that you have configured advisory categories in Settings. For more information, see Advisory Settings.

  • Ensure that the new source does not already exist in the RSS Advisory section. Use the search option to verify.

Steps

To add new RSS advisory sources in the Analyst Portal, follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to the Analyst Portal.

  2. Go to Administration > Advisory Management > RSS Advisory.

  3. Click Add New. Use the following information while adding new RSS advisory sources:

    • Source name: Enter the name of the advisory source. For example, Veracode, and Naked Security.

    • URL: Enter the URL of the RSS advisory source. Make sure that the URL is valid, and it does not already exist as part of other RSS sources.

      Note

You cannot edit the URL after you have added the source.

    • Description: Enter a description that gives more context about the advisory source.

    • Category: Select the advisory category to which the source belongs. A few examples of advisory categories are Vulnerabilities, Security News, Personal Blogs , and more. You can add custom advisory categories in Advisory Settings. For more information, see Advisory Settings.

    • (Optional) Image: Upload the image for the source. You can view this image in the RSS Advisory section in the Analyst Portal. Supported image formats are jpeg, jpg, and png.

    • Verify SSL: Select this checkbox to validate the SSL certificate of the URL. If the SSL certificate is not valid, the RSS source is not added. You have to recheck the URL and try again. By default, this checkbox is selected.

  4. Review the details of the RSS advisory source, and click Submit. The advisory source is now added. In RSS Advisory, select the category of the source, and turn on the toggle for the source to enable it in Collaborate.

Monitor Feed Health

Note

This section is available in Collaborate v3.8.11 (EA) onwards.

You can monitor the health of configured RSS advisory sources to identify feeds that are no longer reachable or have stopped publishing updates. This helps you maintain feed hygiene and ensure members receive timely and relevant intelligence.

Steps

To view and manage feed health, follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to the Analyst Portal.

  2. Go to Administration > Advisory Management > RSS Advisory > Feed Health.

  3. Review feeds listed under the following sections and take the recommended actions to maintain feed hygiene:

    • Unreachable Sources: These sources are not reachable because the configured URL may be invalid, or the source endpoint is not responding for at least seven days. To start receiving updates again, add the source with the correct URL and disable the current invalid source.

If the source becomes reachable again, it is removed from the Unreachable Sources section.

    • Dormant Sources: These sources have not published any new articles for at least 90 days. Disable the source to remove inactive sources from the Analyst and Member Portals and keep your feed list up to date.

If the source publishes new content, it is removed from the Dormant Sources section.

Disabled sources are no longer visible to members, helping you maintain an up-to-date feed list.
